Walter Korz’s multi-disciplinary experience has spanned twenty years in the biotech sector with a number of emerging and established biotechnology companies as well as 10 years in the public health care sector. He has an extensive history of applying innovation and process to start-up and emerging companies operating in Canada and the United States with a track record of strategic planning, leveraging goal-oriented teams to complete clinical programs on time and on budget.
Walter brings with him a broad drug development background to his position with experience in business development, finance, clinical development, regulatory affairs, and project outsourcing. His experience with therapeutic and diagnostic research drugs has spanned various indications including oncology, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriasis. He has successfully overseen the conduct of several preclinical to pivotal clinical trials and has participated in taking a company public as well as raising capital in the public markets.
Prior to establishing British Canadian BioSciences Corp. Walter served as VP, Drug Development and later stepping in as President and CEO of Chemokine Therapeutics Corp. He has initiated the transformation of an entrepreneurial research based public companies to drug development stage organization with a goal to commercialization. In difficult economic conditions he develops and executes appropriate organizational and business plans to advance the development of drug programs by leveraging the expertise of an international network of consultants and service providers.
Previously, Walter held the position of Clinical Development Manager with Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. overseeing the systemic therapy programs including one of the largest multiple sclerosis clinical trials conducted in Canada. Walter experience included overseeing the development of therapeutic products with AltaRex Corp. while in Edmonton and Boston. His initial drug development, clinical, and regulatory experiences were gained with Biomira Research Inc.
Walter was educated at the University of Alberta, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and the University of Saskatchewan. He obtained his Masters of Business Administration from Athabasca University.
